CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Sept. 22, 2020 - Quickbase — a leading application development platform that helps businesses achieve operational agility — announced the launch of its first-ever Virtual Hackathon, open now through November 16, 2020. Participants are eligible to win up to $250,000 in prizes, including a first-place prize of $35,000.
The Quickbase Virtual Hackathon calls upon creative problem solvers within the Quickbase Community and beyond to use the company’s application development platform to help address today’s most pressing challenges at work, the community and world at large. Submissions will focus on four categories:
- Connection: Solve for how we can forge stronger connections across disparate systems, a remote workforce, or key communities.
- Responsiveness: Build solutions that enable organizations to rapidly change in response to disruption, like automating manual or static processes, responding to changes quickly with flexible systems and using real-time insights for decision making.
- Equity: Build solutions that help organizations and communities address sustainability, diversity, inclusivity, human rights and other current issues affecting the world and workplace.
- Security: Solve for how to keep employees, customers and communities safe, maintain and strengthen data security and privacy, manage regulatory compliance, and more.
“If there’s one thing this year has taught us, it’s that businesses have to adapt and find flexible solutions fast, a feat made easier with operational agility within the organization,” said Jay Jamison, chief product and technology officer at Quickbase. “‘Business as usual’ doesn’t exist anymore, and time scales have shifted. Those aiming to stay ahead need breakthrough time to value. They need adaptable software solutions they can build and roll out in days and weeks, not in months, quarters or years. Breakthrough time to value is our core at Quickbase and that core focus is why we’re calling on our community of problem solvers to help businesses fast track their journey to the future of work.”
Builders are competing for almost 50 different cash prizes in a total prize pool of $250,000. Anyone can participate through the company’s free builder account, offering online training and ample support along the way. The Quickbase Virtual Hackathon welcomes submissions from individuals, teams and organization. A team-building page on the Hackathon website can help individual competitors to find teammates to work with. A well-rounded team could include software developers, existing Quickbase users and a project manager. The Quickbase Virtual Hackathon will be judged by internal and external judges, and winners will be announced in mid-December. Judging criteria will be based on the originality of the idea, scope and impact, as well as implementation.
