The market for Collaborative Work Management (CWM) tools is shifting in exciting ways – making way for tools that help teams tackle work that is more complex beyond simple project management. That shift is what drives us at Quickbase. Quickbase has been recognized as a Niche Player in the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Collaborative Work Management for the second consecutive year. This recognition has landed us in the niche category of the quadrant, which we consider the “disruption” category because it highlights our mission to do something different from what has been done for years.

Our strategy is to bring CWM to use cases and industries it hasn’t served before – complex use cases for industries with physical assets that have frontline workers and back-office workers. Every team should feel the power of great work management, but we know from our customers that most CWM tools aren’t really built for them. Customers in industries that require precise coordination of multi-million-dollar machinery or unlimited access to an army of frontline workers spread across thousands of miles. So, we built it. Because they need solutions just as much as the traditional business users that are addressing simple use cases.

We have continued to improve our product with this vision in mind. These efforts include:

  • Advancing our AI capabilities, including AI integrations for automation, recommended reports, and Smart Builder
  • Our customizable industry solutions, Pro Apps
  • Our core innovative features, including the ability to build customizable applications without code and advanced planning tools

To us, a “niche” position highlights our mission to be different. To disrupt. In our opinion, here’s why Gartner puts us in that category:

  • We are a new type of platform that’s filling an unaddressed niche of this market. More complex use cases for industries that have both physical assets and people spread across distances.
  • We position ourselves as going beyond general team coordination and project management, simple use cases that we feel are inadequate for the industries we serve.
  • We have one platform that serves this specific segment of the CWM category really well, and we do most of our business in North America.

Our goal is to be a leader in the CWM category once its definition catches up to the market. Until then, we’ll continue to support companies in complex industries get their most important work done. JBT, for example, streamlined their collaboration for complex processes like resource allocation and quality assurance with one united platform – saving over $140,000 as well as almost two months of project time on manufacturing automated vehicles. A leading auto giant saved $17 million with a single platform uniting all of their workflows and data. Companies like this are taking their complex work and making it simpler – because they have the platform they need to better collaborate on key work.

While this change won’t happen overnight, we’re committed to our future vision of Collaborative Work Management focused on improving the productivity of process-driven industries and the physical work that keeps the world moving.
